CITY OF SHERWOOD ANNOUNCES ROUND 2 APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR FEDERAL CARES ACT SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS
Second Round Applications Accepted: 9:00 AM Tuesday, September 8, 2020
Second Round Applications Close: 5:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2020
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Sherwood recently announced that it has received $248,000 in Federal CARES Act funding to provide financial assistance to Sherwood’s small businesses to assist them during this health and economic emergency. The first round of applications from businesses were received on August 28th. Those applications are currently being reviewed by the City for completeness and eligibility and the City plans to process the applications and distribute the funding in an expeditious manner as soon as that review has been completed.
Based on our review of the first round of requests, the City anticipates having as much as $166,000 remaining Federal CARES Act funds available for additional distribution to businesses. For that reason, the City will be accepting applications for the second round of funding requests under this program beginning September 8th. The program requirements remain the same. Our focus is to encourage those additional Sherwood businesses that did not already apply as of August 28th deadline for funding during the first round to submit applications during this second round. However, businesses that already applied for the first round of funding by August 28th can apply again for this second round as long as they demonstrate to the City that they are seeking a grant for a different expenditure than what was included in their first-round application AND from what they may have received from any other federal funding.
Application forms for the second round of City of Sherwood Federal CARES Act funding will be available on the City of Sherwood website link below starting at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 with the deadline for submitting completed applications at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2020.
