Sherwood Announces New Business Grant Program Due to Freeze
On November 13, 2020, Governor Kate Brown announced a state-wide Freeze from November 18, 2020 through December 2, 2020, to help curb the rapid spread of COVID-19. The two-week Freeze measures have had a significant impact on eating and drinking establishments which have been restricted to delivery and take-out only and to gyms/fitness facilities/indoor entertainment businesses which have been forced to close.
Governor Brown also committed $55 million of federal CARES funding to assist businesses significantly impacted during the Freeze period. This money has recently been allocated to Oregon counties, including Washington County. The City of Sherwood is pleased to announce that it is receiving a grant of approximately $160,000 from the county which we will distribute to those businesses which were most adversely affected by the Freeze. We are targeting the following types of businesses for this grant program: Eating and Drinking Establishments, Gyms/Fitness Businesses, Indoor Entertainment Businesses, and other Hospitality Businesses. All targeted businesses in the City of Sherwood will be eligible to receive a flat grant in the amount of up to $4,000 regardless of the size of their business.
Please view the more information on the webpage for this grant here:
Application forms will be available on the City of Sherwood Website starting at 9:00 AM on Friday, December 4, 2020, with a deadline for submitting applications by 5:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2020.
“As this pandemic continues to have economic impacts on our local businesses, the City continues to focus on different ways to assist our businesses,” stated Mayor Keith Mays. “This new targeted program focuses on those businesses most-impacted by the freeze”.
