Heat Warning In Effect
The National Weather Service has issue a heat warning in our area. Expect dangerously hot conditions through the weekend with temperatures between 100-105 degrees.
If you, or anyone you know, is looking for a local place to cool down, our Sherwood Library will be open extended hours until 8:00 PM Friday, July 5th through Sunday, July 7th. For a full list of cooling centers in the metro region click here.
Please take a moment and catch up on the tips below to stay safe and healthy over the next few days:
• Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible. If you do not have air conditioning at home - Public libraries, movie theaters and senior centers are all good options.
• Find a place to cool down outside! You can visit our water feature at Cannery Square located at 22622 SW Pine St..
• Do not rely on a fan as your primary cooling device.
• Avoid strenuous activities in the heat of the day.
• Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Take cool showers or baths to lower your body temperature.
• Do not use your stove, oven, washer or dryer. For more tips from PGE please click here.
• Eat small, light meals.
• Close your blinds and curtains to keep sunlight out.
• Drink plenty of fluids, especially while working or exercising outside.
